Medical imaging is crucial for early disease detection and treatment, but radiologists face increasing demand and workload. As a “second set of eyes” Annalise Enterprise helps doctors triage and diagnose confidently, reducing the risk of missing life-threatening conditions. Through iterative design research — 100’s hours observing, interviewing & testing with 100s of international radiologists — we understood the intense time pressure, unique environment, and fatigue of radiology, so UX design was hyper-focused on ergonomics and cognitive aspects load, usability and speed.
Radiologists often interact with highly dense, sometimes user-hostile UIs and use dual-handed input via voice and mouse but minimal keyboard use and are hyper-sensitive to distraction and impediments.
The UI design is carefully designed to these sensitivities. The UX eliminates constant manual adjustment while the UI seeks to focus all user attention on detecting critical findings and especially focussed on ergonomics by minimising “eye miles” and clustering supporting information in deliberate spacial relationship to the medical images being interrogated.
A tool constantly used under such pressure must be lightweight, low-friction, effective and pleasing to sustain use and positively impact this critical work.

Ideation for a trial of conversational in-person Q&A and/or tele-health triage assessment of patient symptoms by travelling community health workers in rural and remote regions.
A supervised chat-mode enabled clinical assessors to see upcoming questions prompted by AI predicted matches with reported symptoms, allowing users to influence the direction of enquiry where helpful, or switch into direct communication mode if desired.
Transparency, AI explainability and progressive medical training is supported visualisations showing AI predicted likelihood, the relative contribution of given symptoms and clinical severity.
After completing a conversational assessment of current health and lifestyle behaviours, users needed a clear visualisation of their predicted health risks.
Understanding contributing factors and recommended actions gave patients a clearer, actionable set of behaviour modifications.
A convenient, easy to use, platform rich with healthcare content and also offers an online healthcare search and appointment booking service.
As Head of Design I work closely with leadership to identify and articulate our core principles, set design direction and lead the maturing of design and UX practice for 1st Group and our customer services: MyHealth1st, PetYeti and GoBookings.
My first challenge was to take on the refresh of the 1stGroup portfolio, setting an exciting new brand directions. I worked hand in hand with design partners to develop a series of bold, human-centric brand identities and managed implementation across digital and print. I have also worked closely with Head of Product to analyse and establish new product processes.

This work represents some outcomes of a senior Software Team leadership design sprint exploring a 3-5 year strategic look-ahead for developer tools, informing Atlassian product strategy.
We sought to explore the potential for deeper tool integration and how we might meet the future needs of product development teams.
Concepts represented include simplified onboarding/initiation of a project, enhanced project/team overview and extending existing product conventions into new domains, such as product/customer research.

When seeking a colleague to work with, or to understand a colleague’s likely ability to respond promptly to a request, awareness of their existing assigned load could be useful.
Working with remote colleagues increased awareness of, and sensitivity to, time zones could assist collaboration and increase empathy.

During Telstra's 2015 Vantage corporate conference, I was selected for inclusion in one of four Telstra teams in the Fast Solutions Hub application design 'hackathon' paired with Telstra corporate customers and vendor partners.
For this project we were paired with Bunzl Australasia, a leading specialist distribution group supplying a broad range of non-food consumable products, and HP specifying our hardware solution platform as an industry appropriate 'toughened' tablet running the Windows 8 tablet OS. Consequently the application solution was designed according to the Windows 'Metro' design language.
During the event I led the discovery process, workshopped the client challenge and proposed solution, conducted UX design and produced final UI design mockups and prototype.
Upon completion of the 1.5 day hackathon the team was visited and personally thanked for our proposed solution by the Bunzl CTO, and being investigated for further implementation.
UX and UI concept designs for LTE Broadcast demonstration app. To demonstrate the dramatically increased bandwidth available via LTE Broadcast this proposal incorporated multiple simultaneous broadcast streams.
With audio only available on the actively selected stream the user would be able to immediately switch between several streams to monitor multiple simultaneous races, or alternative camera angles of a single race.
The proposed design included in-line notification for race events and visual design proposals for deeper racing related information.

On sabbatical from my User Interface / User Experience design technical role to further develop project and business analysis skills. In this role I handled on-going project monitoring, updating and reporting on multi-million dollar projects, and developed schedules in consultation with senior planners, project managers and stakeholders.
Combining my database, graphic and user experience design skills I developed a reporting solution and high-level project summary report for management and stakeholders, adopted throughout the project planning organisation.
